INTERVIEW QUESTIONS
What are your plans after high school graduation?
My plans after high school include attending college, which I have been doing. I am not a person to live in the past, but to pursue and push forward. The glow of my personality will shine in all that I do and allow me to see a bigger, better, and brighter future. I see college playing a key role in my future, and a must, to live the life I want to have.
What is one thing that you feel you need to improve on?
One thing that I need to improve on would be my focusing and efficiency skills. If my heart and mind are together regarding something, I can accomplish great things, and quite well as needed. Once my heart is set on making something or completing a task, I do it to the best of my capability. I just have to overcome the struggle and get my mind there. Once this happens, I know from experience, that I can accomplish amazing things and do the tasks set before me.
What are your weaknesses and strengths?
My weaknesses and things I struggle with usually all have something to do with my attention span on the things that don't interest me. One thing that I need to improve on is time management. I seem to struggle with determining how long it may take me to accomplish a task. But because I am aware of this, I work hard at understanding timelines. My strengths are many. I am a very creative person. I enjoy performing experiments to see what the outcomes may be. I am a positive person who likes to see the best in everything. I am great in working with others and pride myself when I can accomplish greater things than I ever imagined I could.
What qualities make you the right applicant for the job?
It is hard for me to say that I love all tasks, but I am good at many. I am more of a hands on person, than a 100% technological person. While I enjoy using technology and am pretty good at it, I wouldn't want to sit in front of a computer all day long. I enjoy problem solving and pushing myself. I like to have a basic sense of direction, instead of, a complete independence to complete tasks. Show me once and I wont be afraid to ask you to show me again if I don't get it. After the second time, if not the first, I usually have something down. It is important for me to plan out what I need to do, how I plan to do it, how long it will take, and to set goals. This pushes me to efficiently complete the tasks at hand.
When did you decide you wanted to work in your chosen field and why?
I have not been able to select a specific career or field of study that suits me and or that I really feel I want to study 100% yet. I like to work hands on and not be sitting behind a computer all day. Although I have not narrowed it down to what I want to do yet, I do know I would like to get a major in German since I have already dedicated so much time and effort into learning the language. I am multi-talented, but I have not found that specific job, that not only interests me, but that I know will challenge me and I will be happy doing day in and day out.
What does it mean to work as part of a team?
To work as part of a team is to sacrifice individuality and risk everything for your team. To be a part of a team, means to work hard, not only for yourself and in support of your ideas, but also for the ideas of the others on your team. To reach greatness and to do the best of your ability, you have to sometimes compromise and make unified decisions. This means you have to not only back up the team but expect them to respect and listen to what you have to say as you listen to them. I have your back if you have mine. Only then, can you get things accomplished and share the glory with those on your team.
What motivates you to tackle and complete a task?
Ambition and excitement motivate me in completing a task. When I am excited about a task, it usually becomes a completed task quite quickly because I enjoyed it. When I really get into the things I am doing and they become better than I imagined, it tends to turn out great. Often, I surprise myself when I end up liking a task and having fun with it and it turns out to be something I am proud of, big or small. Life is a journey. In everything I do, if I like it, it will be my best, and if I don't, I will certainly try my best anyways.
How do you handle stress?
Stress is something that people can not avoid. Those who work and perform the best they can, must experience stress in order to get where they are. Everyone has a breaking point where they crash and burn. Those who get back up, keep going, and fight to continue on, become a better person from it. It is those people who will and do succeed in life. I like to think of myself as one of those people. I like to channel stress and frustration into exercise and my music. It is one of my most important motivators. After I have a, what I like to call, stress release, or as you may say, meltdown, that is when I seem to get my best work done. I may not handle it the best at first, but I always seem to power through in the end. Sometimes you do just need a break.
What do you think is the number one problem facing people your age and what do you think should be done about it?
I think at this age, it is students not being able to figure out a career that they feel they will love doing. With choosing a career path, where one does not benefit and enjoy it, makes for a semi-miserable life. Too many kids are dropping out of collegial schooling. I think kids need to find something to drive them, to want to excel, and make a great life for themselves. To find an incentive, to give them ambition to do their best, and show off their talents. To never give up on reachable goals is a very important part in being successful. Too many people give up so soon these days. They listen to others who tell them that they can't do it, when I know they could if they continued to push on. To help with these often self esteem related problems, I would offer more activities, more extra curricular classes, or have more clubs to suit all kids. To get kids involved in school activities that are not 100% academic is very important and will keep them in school. People our age need to be informed on all the possibilities of the outside world. The amazing experiences out there for them. Easily possible to be achieved with a little hard work and effort on their part.
